Something Was Not Right
Since birth, Al Bielek was nearly always unusual. He was born in 1927 to an average family. At that time, he was not even aware of his quite remarkable life story. Al has a rather normal childhood, but there was always something a bit different with Al.

For instance, his first memories were from before he learned how to walk. He remembers still crawling as adults surrounded him in conversation. Given that very early age, he remembers being able to comprehend what the adults were conversing about. Despite remembering the very early childhood memories, he forgot about a major event— until much later.

The “walking encyclopedia”, a name his classmates labeled him. Unknowingly, he had retained so much information and was not even aware where he’d learned these ideas. However, it wasn’t until he turned 60 that he realized he understood some clues.

In 1988, Al and his family watched The Philadelphia Experiment—a science fiction film. The movie was said to be based on a true-life story but the film portrayed an unimaginable scene for everyone but not for Bielek. As he watched the film, he could not quiet this nagging voice inside of him that he’d witnessed all of this before.
Undetectable Ships
The Philadelphia Experiment told the story of a governmental experiment back in the era of World War II. Based on the movie, the United States Navy was determined to find a way to make their ships indetectable by radar transmissions and other governments.

The movie showed American scientists/ experts, Marines, and government officials testing a certain device that would hopefully make their ship invisible. They tested the device on USS Eldridge. However, when they activated the device, it just didn’t work. Then, something frightful happened.
The Secret Government Experiment
Just like what The Philadelphia Experiment showed, the American government also did some “under the radar” studies aboard the USS Eldridge that became a mystery for many years. Then, on October 28, 1943, they activated the device in Philadelphia’s naval yard. According to the movie and other conspiracy theories, some witnesses saw what happened next. A “strange, green-tinged fog” enveloped the USS Eldridge.

Then, a flash of blue light appeared and when it disappeared, the ship and everyone on board disappeared as well. The goal of letting the ship undetected by the radar made the entire vessel vanish. When the ship re-emerged, something horrifying had occurred.
The USS Eldridge Tragedy
As reported by the witnesses and as depicted in the movie, the moment when the ship re-emerged was dreadful. It turns out that when they activated the device, people on board experienced severe consequences. Others reportedly felt intense nausea, however, they were fortunate for they only experienced being nauseous.

Other individuals on board got terribly injured, some of them lost their sanity, and some developed mysterious illnesses. One individual reportedly fell from the top deck to the bottom and found himself literally fused to the ship. When watching it was only familiar for Bielek for he witnessed it himself. The Beginning of Bielek’s Flashbacks
The Philadelphia Experiment movie lasted for an hour and 42 minutes but its effect on Bielek goes beyond that period. It changed his entire life. Bielek could not shake the disturbing feeling he had about what he had just felt for months.

Bielek looked into New Age methods of retrieving memories. He started to seek help from therapists and psychics. Through various ways, he finally began seeing the full picture, putting up the pieces of flashbacks to complete the puzzle.

By 1990, after a couple of years since watching The Philadelphia Experiment, he started to share what he learned. The first revelation was about his name. Al Bielek claims that this wasn’t even his name. In fact, he was an entirely different person.

He claimed that he was born in 1916 and was named Edward Cameron. Bielek (or Cameron) also claimed to have been assigned to live with the Bielek residence as a cover-up by the United States government. If anyone thought the story was already crazy, well, it was just the tip of the iceberg.

The revelation was not just his claims about his name but also being part of a big government experiment, probably conspiracy theories of all time. He says it wasn’t just a theory at all, the experiment did happen, as well as the unimaginable consequences.

Boarding the USS Eldridge
In the 1990 Mutual UFO Network Conference (MUFON), Al Bielek stood in front of an audience to share his unbelievable story. His story did not involve UFOs, instead, it involved something more unbelievable.

The story began when, in his former life, he and his brother Duncan Cameron joined the United States Navy in 1939. Scientists John Hutchinson, John von Neumann, and Nikola Tesla were helping the government with some projects. After four years of being enlisted, he and his brother Duncan got to be on board the USS Eldridge.
Device Activation of the USS Eldridge
Bielek stated that what happened in the Philadelphia Experiment was all true and the government used the top talents to activate and test the device on the ship that runs undetected from German radars. He was even on board when the activation happened.
He claimed that everyone on board suddenly felt ill and was stuck in the ship, and it was chaotic. They were screaming. With all given the best option on what to do onboard, he and his brother Duncan try to jump overboard and are expected to land in the water. Instead, they were suspended in time and found themselves in total darkness.
Arriving in the Year 2137
When he woke up, he found himself and his brother in an entirely unfamiliar place. He was not in the water as he have expected, he was not even on the ship or anywhere near Philadelphia. Instead, they found themselves in a hospital with intensively burnt bodies.

Then, everything else gets odd. He realized that he was not even in the year 1943 anymore, he had traveled through time. “We arrived in [the year] 2137 in pretty bad shape. We wound up in hospitals for around a month. ” He tried asking some questions but only got more confusing answers.
A Whole New World
It would be alarming to wake up in future times, so it was no doubt that Bielek woke up in a hospital with lots of questions. Bielek stated that the doctors “told us about various events and showed us some maps of the altered United States.”

The doctors showed him the severe changes that happened between the period of World War II and 2137. By then, the US was barely recognizable. The West Coast and Southeast had quite been fully sunken underwater, Florida completely vanished and Atlanta was now near the coastline. Just when it couldn’t get more strange, after six weeks, he found himself travelling through time once again.
Another Strange Time Travel
Bielek could not figure out what triggered the second time travel. What he remembered, though, was that he woke up in the year 2749. Once again, he found himself in a hospital that looked much more different and so unfamiliar. Through the advanced technologies he had seen, he didn’t even need to confirm that he had traveled to the future again.

According to one of his interviews, he found himself surrounded by advanced surgical material and going through vibrational and light treatment therapies to treat the wounds he sustained through time travelling. “On the TV, broadcasters only screened history, news, and geography programs. I don’t recall there was a single soap opera on the air,” Bielek said. If he thought this was the future, well, it was just the beginning.
He Journeyed in the Year 2749
When Bielek found himself in the year 2137, he was overwhelmed and had difficulty keeping his sanity. However, it was nothing compared to the year 2749. In total, he spent around 2 years living and working as a 28th-century tour guide.

In the same era, he described Earth as very unrecognizable as before. He claimed that the world is entirely controlled by a “synthetic computer system” that “looked like a huge crystal.” System communication of all human beings is through telepathy. However, it’s not the only thing that had changed.
Two Bloody Wars Changed the World
Bielek being in the year 2749 felt like he lived on an entirely new planet. Seemingly, the Earth had entirely changed. He claimed that most of the change had to do with two bloody wars fought on a global scale. The bloody wars are between “between the Russians and the Chinese,” and “the United States and Europe.”
Urban Ramblings
The result of these horrifying conflicts was decimated cities, wiped out towns, centralized governments no longer existing anymore. He claimed that there are only 300 million people left. Regions of the United States that are left were ruled by the military. There were even more changes.
Credit System
Then again, in interviews and speeches, Bielek claimed that by the year 2749, a lot had changed. Florida could not be found, no more governments, no central rule, at least in the United States. Furthermore, he recalled that money is no longer of its use.
How Stuff Works
Rather, everyone depended on a credit system, where they have to exchange goods for what they needed. By the 28th century, humans had made so many technological advancements. Apparently, they also mastered the principle of anti-gravity that led to the most incredible human accomplishment that Bielek could describe.
New Anti-gravity Technology
Bielek described how the new anti-gravity technology allowed humans to invent and live in floating cities (suspended high above the ground) in the year 2749. Some of the floating cities were floating over 2 miles above the Earth’s surface. He claimed that it had something to do with “controlling the laws of gravity.”

According to Bielek, these floating cities were not tied down to a specific area and could float around. The central computer system most likely controlled the cities’ movements. He also said that lower-class citizens lived in traditional homes on the ground. How were these things possible?

Bielek recalled that he was asking around how this planet came to this state- a computer system taking over the entire communities and the entire world. Surprisingly, his question took people aback as it had never dawned in their minds just before he asked.

Apparently, people never had thought about the question before. Artificial intelligence completely has taken over their lives, no one seemed to know the history of everything. Bielek found this revelation terrifying- the thoughts about the rampant advancement of computers. However, then again everything shifted.
Back in Track and New Project
Without a warning, Bielek and his brother instantly went back on track, they time-traveled again. But this time, they were sent back in the year 1983 when and where everything began. They were briefed by the top-secret government officials about what they have experienced. They were reminded about the nature of their jobs.

Those scientists and researchers that worked on the top-secret projects with the government grow more concerned (worried) about Bielek as a threat. The government then made ways to get rid of the possible threats, concerning Bielek’s time traveling.

At that time, Bielek had already gotten used to time traveling. Later, he said, “There is a slight feeling when you are going through space-time. The first trip you make can be quite nauseating and after that you sort of get used to it.” Unlike before, the government wanted to take care of this situation permanently.
Aging Backwards
Earlier, Bielek and his brother were supposed to be assigned to an entirely new secret project, rather he was sent back in time. With each year he travelled backward, his age reversed until his birth year. Edward Cameron was instead born into his body as Al Bielek.

However, during the time travel, his brother Duncan aged rapidly, opposite to what Bielek alone was experiencing. The memories of Bielek of his brother, the time-traveling, the secret government project/ experiment, and everything else in his former life would be erased. Thankfully, the other mission tasked for Bielek did not go as planned. He could recall everything.

The government thought that the story of the Philadelphia Experiment would vanish and will be forgotten along with Edward Cameron if they sent Al Bielek back in time. They were wrong, instead, Bielek became famous in the science of time traveling, as well as to the section of conspiracy theories about the government.

He wanted to warn everyone about what the future may bring and also wanted to reveal that some of the theories were right about the USS Eldridge. Throughout the years, he shared his stories through interviews and speeches until catastrophe happened.
Beginning of a New Chapter
Bielek the world’s famous time traveler passed away in 2017. The world could no longer hear first-hand stories from Al Bielek’s experiences. However, it doesn’t mean that his claims and stories did not linger and exist.

Experts, historians, and especially the governing officials tried all sorts of ways to dismiss the conspiracy theories about the Philadelphia Experiment. However, there are a lot of people who believe Bielek traveled through time and experienced everything he claimed. To prove these predictions, we just have to wait until then.
