When actors turn into parents, it is natural for some days to have their children hanging around the set to visit and see their parents in action. Sometimes, they even get to be part of the action themselves as they are given roles – from minor to major ones.

Here is a list of Hollywood actors whose kids had played a minor or major role on the screen with them. Most people hardly noticed that they were acting with their kids and we bet you would not have guessed most of these!

Judy Garland

Judy Garland and Liza Minnelli are some of the best mother-daughter stars of Hollywood. Both of them have played iconic roles – Judy Garland in The Wizard of Oz and Liza Minnelli in Cabaret.

The two can often be seen doing performances together in the television show, The Judy Garland Show. But the first time the two actually worked together was in the 1949 movie, The Good Old Summertime. Liza was still 3 years old at that time and played Judy’s on-screen daughter.

Janet Leigh

Janet Leigh was known as the original scream queen when she starred in the 1960 film, Psycho. Her daughter, Jamie Lee Curtis, also followed suit as a scream queen in the 1978 film, Halloween. Both women have made their mark in the horror genre. But it took 20 years for the two to work together on screen.

Jerry Stiller

Jerry Stiller was a radio star during the 1960s. He also was an endearing figure in the 1990s due to his role in Seinfield, where he played Frank Costanza. He is also the father of actor and director Ben Stiller.

Ryan O’Neal

Ryan O’Neal was one of the hottest actors in Hollywood during the 1970s. In the movie Paper Moon, he pulled some strings to cast his then 10-year-old daughter, Tatum, into the movie for the role of Little Orphan Annie.

Tatum ended up stealing the spotlight from her father with her performance. She became the youngest performer to win an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress. This apparently did not sit well with Ryan, who has not won an Oscar yet. Ryan’s insecurity caused the relationship between father and daughter started to deteriorate after that.

Lloyd Bridges

Jeff Bridges is well-known in Hollywood but his father, Lloyd, was a movie mainstay and happened to be the one to give his son his first exposure to show business. When Jeff was still a kid, Lloyd pulled some strings to get his son to be a part of the TV show the Sea Hunt.

Tippi Hedren

Tippi Hedren shared some screen time with her daughter, Melanie Griffith, on the 1981 movie, Roar. It was rumored that Melanie almost lost her eye to a lion on the set! However, this did not discourage her from pursuing a showbiz career as her mother did.

Brendan Gleeson played the role of Alastor “Mad-Eye” Moody in the Harry Potter film, The Deathly Hallows. But not everyone noticed that he shared the screen with his son, Domhnall Gleeson, who played the role of Bill Weasley.

The father and son team also worked together in the 2014 movie, Calvary, which had a darker theme compared to Harry Potter. Brendan often talked proudly of his son, saying it was a treat to act together and seeing his son grow as a good actor.

Blythe Danner

Blythe Danner had the opportunity to appear on stage with her daughter, Gwyneth Paltrow in 1994. Back then, Blythe pushed Gwyneth to go the extra mile and it turned out Gwyneth found her too demanding during those days. Blythe later on admitted that she did put some unnecessary pressure on Gwyneth before.

While Demi Moore was filming her 1995 movie, Striptease, her daughter, Rumer Willis was just 7 years old. Rumer was cast as her on-screen child in the film. This was the first time mother and daughter worked together on the set.
