Becky Pistone and Rachel McGeoch are identical twins. The pair fell pregnant at around the same time and, amazingly, gave birth on the same day. They were looked after in adjoining rooms at Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge, Massachusetts. If their situation wasn’t surprising enough, they gave birth within an hour of each other. Becky and Rachael have a very special bond, as you can imagine. There have been studies done to try and explain the connection that twins like these two experience, but such tests haven’t had any conclusive results.
Inseperable

Becky and Rachael have always done absolutely everything together. Wherever there’s a Becky, there’s a Rachel (and vice versa). They have the same group of friends and even have the same interests and hobbies.
Getting Up To Mischief
When they were little, they were always getting confused for one another since they were so alike. Even their parents sometimes struggled to tell them apart. Consequently, their parents bought them each a necklace with their name on to make things a little easier. The girls decided to have a little fun with this.

In order to avoid any confusion, the two girls were put in different classes from an early age. This cheeky pair decided to switch classes during tests, since they knew that they would be able to get away with it. This worked well in their favour. Since Becky was good at maths, she took both maths tests. Rachael was better at languages, so she took the language tests. The possibilities that their “twin power” gave them were endless.
Special Bond
The girls were born in the U.S. state of Massachusetts, where they continue to live today. They aren’t as mischievous these days, thankfully, but still remain very close. The girls can simply look at each other and know how the other one is feeling. This would come in handy in the future.

Both girls decided to continue their studies after finishing high school, but, while they shared the same interests generally, they decided to take different paths with regard to their subjects.
Going Separate Ways
They actually split up at this point. Becky went off to study in New York City, while Rachael decided to stay closer to home, studying in Boston. This was good for them, as it meant they started to lead more independent lives. However, it wasn’t long before something happened that meant they needed each other more than ever…

The only area the pair really differed in was the desire to find a boyfriend. While Rachael took great pleasure in dating and did it a lot, Becky wasn’t particularly interested in this. She felt that she was very content on her own.
Love Life
Rachael was the first to finish her university studies and, following this, she decided to move in with her boyfriend. While Becky was, of course, happy for her sister, she was of the opinion that it was a little early for that.

Not long after finishing college, Becky actually met the love of her life. These things always happen when you least expect it! Since it was her first ever serious relationship, she decided that she didn’t want to rush anything, so held off on moving in with him.
An Upsetting Phone Call
One night when Becky was spending an evening alone in her apartment, she received a frantic call from her sister. Becky answered the phone and Rachael was on the other line sounding flustered and upset.
Rachael explained to her sister that she and her boyfriend were ready for the next step in their relationship, they decided that it was time for them to have a baby. They had begun trying, but to no avail.

A Strange Request
Rachael and her boyfriend had been trying for a while now and failing. She was desperate to have a baby. Having mulled it all over, she had come up with an idea. She asked Becky something which came from the heart…

She asked, “Remember when we used to fantasise about our own kids? Remember when you always said that you wanted a big family with at least five kids? Remember when one of us failed to do something and the other tried it, both of us succeeded? Dear Becky, I’ve been trying to get pregnant for ages, but it isn’t working. What if you try with your boyfriend too? I’m sure we’ll do it!”
If Not Now, When?
There was a long pause. Becky had to think this through properly before giving her sister an answer. She knew that she was being deadly serious and that her answer would really matter to her.

Rachael knew that Becky secretly dreamed of having a family, so she didn’t think it was completely ridiculous to ask her this. They were both over the age of 30 now and in committed relationships. Becky concluded that this wasn’t such a bad idea.
A Miracle
After taking some time to think, Becky responded: “I think it is time to use our “twin power” one more time and go for it!” What an incredible response! Rachael couldn’t have been happier with her sister’s answer. It wasn’t long before something amazing happened…

One summer’s day, Rachael woke up early. She couldn’t sleep, as she wasn’t feeling right. She realised what the explanation for this could be and hoped she was right. There was only one thing for it, she would do a pregnancy test. It turned out that she was positive! She called her sister immediately to tell her the good news and the pair cried with joy.
Twin Power
Less than three weeks later, Becky’s test also came back positive. They were both pregnant! Everything was running smoothly, until a few months later, when the time came for Rachael to give birth…

The sisters were due to give birth just two weeks apart. However, when Rachael passed her due date, everyone was convinced that the best thing would be to have her twin sister by her side. She needed some of that “twin power.”
In It Together
Becky went to the hospital to be with her sister and, within just a few hours, not one but both sisters gave birth! They both gave birth to beautiful baby boys. This miracle proved that “twin power” does, in fact, exist. A little after the births, the doctor discovered something even more remarkable…

The sisters couldn’t have been happier. It was as if their babies were also twins, since they had been born just a few hours apart. The two baby boys, Sam and Pete, were very restless and noisy. The doctor thought that perhaps the boys were experiencing abdominal cramps, but there turned out to be a more heartwarming explanation…
Instant Connection
The doctor observed that Sam and Pete would cry when they were apart. They seemed to calm down drastically when they were close to each other. Since their mothers had such a special bond, it only made sense that they had a special bond too.

It seems that Rachael and Becky transferred their “twin power” to their babies! What an incredible story! We hope that the pair will be best friends as they grow up, perhaps they’ll be joined at the hip – just like their mothers!
