Even before Meghan Markle officially became a royal, the press has always been unimpressed by the actress turned duchess. From infamous exes to tight smiles, Markle always seemed a bit too haughty.
This led to the constant media scrutiny and general dislike from the British public, which has led many to believe that Meghan Markle might never be able to truly fit into the royal family and here is the proof.
Double Standards?
At the Order of the Garter, an important royal service, Duchess Camilla could be seen politely asking Queen Maxima of the Netherlands and Kate Middleton to stop talking and face the front.
It was practically the same scenario that Meghan Markle faced a few weeks prior, only Camilla treated Kate with much more respect than Harry did with Meghan. There is a good chance that some double standards are at play here…
Chelsy To The Rescue?
In light of the recent rumours that all is not well with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, a recent rumour surfaced involving one of the latter’s ex’s – Chelsy Davy. According to New Idea‘s Phil Dampier, Davy was seen arriving in the U.K. and wanted to check in on her royal ex to make sure everything was OK.
“I don’t have any doubt that Chelsy was the love of Harry’s life and he will always carry a torch for her,” Dampier said. While on the surface Meghan And Harry look happy as ever, we nevertheless wonder why Chelsy felt the need to check in with her long-time friend and ex, Harry, all of a sudden.
Not Following Protocol
In light of the incident, a number of experts have called Meghan Markle out on her reported inability to follow standard royal protocol. “I see Meghan still doesn’t follow protocol, Harry had to correct her and tell her to face forward… TWICE,” one insider claimed.
“She eventually turned around and looked like she was going to start crying.” According to numerous experts, Meghan’s struggle to fit in with royal traditions and customs can simply be boilt down to the fact that there are significant cultural differences.
American Woman
The most recent incident is the latest in a long line of moments that indicate that Meghan Markle might never be able to truly fit into the royal family. However, the biggest detail that might’ve spelt doom for her since the very beginning was the fact that she’s American.
Not only did the British public find the news that Harry was dating a woman from “across the pond” a little strange, but it might be too late for Meghan to comfortably take on all of these new traditions, which her sister-in-law, Kate has been accustomed to for years.
Divorced Duchess
Another detail that was inevitably going to rub the royal family up the wrong way was the fact that Meghan Markle has already been married once in her life before she even met Prince Harry. The former actress started dating Trevor Engelson back in 2004 and, after a few years of dating, the couple tied the knot in 2011.
However, they decided to go their separate ways about 18 months later and finalized their divorce in August 2013. It’s yet another factor that has made her integration into royal life problematic.
Instagram Fails
It was only recently that Harry and Meghan tried another method in the attempt to reach out to their followers, by creating the official “Sussex Royal” Instagram account. However, royal expert Melanie Bromley was quick to poke holes in the account and how the captions don’t read as though they are written by a royal.
“They keep making mistakes on their Instagram,” she said. She pointed out the error in which a caption used the term “everyday” instead of “every day.” American terms such as “cribs” and “diapers” were also used.
“Don’t Marry Actresses”
Another reason why Meghan Markle might not be able to fit into the royal family is because of her background as an actress. While putting on an act for the Queen would seem like a strength that will work in her favour, Meghan will ultimately need to display some transparency in order to win the family’s trust.
Moreover, it is reported that Prince Philip warned Harry about marrying Markle, for this very reason. “One steps out with actresses, one doesn’t marry them,” he reportedly said. Strange, how his words are echoed by most of the British press as well.
Mixed Signals
Despite what Prince Philip reportedly told Prince Harry about marrying Meghan Markle, the Queen’s husband has also displayed behaviour that implies he very much supports her inclusion into the royal family.
Philip was one of the first people to meet baby Archie and was very much a part of the family’s beautiful photoshoot shortly after his birth. Not to mention the fact that Philip ended up making a surprise appearance at Meghan and Harry’s wedding, in spite of the fact that he was still recovering from a hip operation.

It’s not just Prince Philip who has been sceptical about Meghan Markle’s place in the royal family. According to The Sunday Times, a senior royal figure referred to her as “the degree wife,” alluding to the fact that it takes most British students three years to obtain a degree.
They used this nickname to imply that the couple’s marriage will “only last three years.” This wasn’t the first time that a royal insider has given Meghan Markle an unflattering nickname.
She’s High Maintenance?
Other nicknames that people have reportedly given Meghan Markle imply that she is incredibly high maintenance. These include “Me-Gain,” which is believed to refer to the way that she treats her staff.
