3 Easy Steps to Preserve Peaches Correctly

Peaches are sweet and tasty. These are also a great source of our required nutrients. But the local peach season is very short. You may not be able to taste these super fruits for a long time. But you can easily preserve peaches and enjoy the super taste of peaches when the warm weather is just a memory. Here are three simple steps to freeze peaches.

Step 01: Prepare the peaches

The very first thing you need to do is to peel the peaches. Then you need to slice them into chunks. You can cut those in small or big sizes according to your plan of using those in the future. If you are concerned about the pieces of the peaches turning brown, then toss those with a small amount of lemon juice. Do this process before freezing. Thus you can save the fruits from enzymes. The enzymes are responsible for the not-so-attractive browning looks of the fruits. You also can use ascorbic acid which is known as vitamin C to helping with browning. It also can help you to preserve fruit’s natural vitamin C which deteriorates with freezing.

Step 02: Freeze until the fruits firm properly

Place the slices of the peaches on a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper. You need to spread out the chunks such a way that those are not touching each other. Arrange those in a line and maintain a single layer. Freeze those until those become hard enough. You may need to freeze the chunks for about two hours.

Step 03: Transfer and preserve the fruit slices

Once the peach slices are firmed properly, you can transfer those to a re-sealable freezer bag. If you want you can keep those chunks in a container. Try to press out as much air as possible from the container or bag. Then you can store those for 4 to 6 months and can enjoy the pleasant taste of the peaches.
