A doctor’s oath is to help every patient in need, regardless of their financial standing. Most of the time, doctors take pleasure in offering their services with not so much as a complaint. But what happens when you encounter a doctor that refuses to help?

This teenager was in need of medical help but gets turned away by a mean doctor. Anybody in her situation would be disheartened, and worse, would easily spiral into depression. So what gives? Why did this doctor deny help? What was his deal?
The Best But Not Really
Doctor Sebastian was the hospital’s best physician and many of his patients came from referrals of other doctors in the same field. He was very competent and precise. But there was just one little thing that stood out about him and it isn’t exactly a pretty trait.

His tongue was sharp as he was vicious and he spared no one when it comes to bringing bad news, not even patients. But he was yet to encounter one patient that would change his life forever, and not even his heightened senses as a doctor could help him.
Cry For Help
19-year old Noah lived with her boyfriend after venturing out on her own. She came from a poor family but she was determined to make sure that she took charge of her own future, so she moved out of her family home. But there was one thing she kept secret.

When she got pregnant, it all changed for her. She and her boyfriend did not have the financial means to support a baby but they both knew that it was the right thing to do. 8 months passed and time was ticking, she knew she needed to do something, so she went to the one place she thought she could get help from.
High Hopes
Noah had high hopes. She expected to be welcomed with open arms, after all, she was a pregnant teenager. She thought anyone in the medical field would understand her situation and that she be given the help she and her baby deserves. But there were doubts lingering.

She knew in the back of her mind that the what she was about to do would be a long shot but she had no choice. It was do or die. Her baby was her priority and she needed to get things in order to make sure she delivered as safely as possible.
Trying To Hide The Truth
She made an appointment and went to the hospital. She was nervous but she was eager. She was welcomed by a team of nurses who asked her a few questions about her pregnancy and assessed her general well-being. This was the hospital’s process before seeing a physician, so she obliged.

Although she wasn’t really comfortable with all these strangers asking her questions, she had no choice. She was also very careful not to say anything too specific because she didn’t want anybody else to know her family history, especially Doctor Sebastian.
Brought To Tears
Her assessment was finally completed and she was now waiting in line to see the doctor she’d been wanting to see for the past few months. She was trembling because this would be her first time seeing him in person.

Her turn had finally come and she nervously walks up to the doctor’s desk. He was busy reading her chart. She nervously says hi and he waves down to the chair so she could sit all the while bent on checking the nurse’s notes. As soon as she sits down, he then turns to her and says, “You should go home. I can’t help you.” And with that, he stands and leaves the room. Noah was stunned and tears started rolling down her cheeks.
Didn’t Go As Planned
Noah was at a loss for words. What just happened? Did something go wrong with the assessment results? The doctor left without saying anything else and she hated that she was not able to say anything else to him.

She got up the chair and tried to run after him but he was already gone. One of the nurses saw Noah and she instantly knew what had happened. So she rushed to her side and comforted the now bawling pregnant teenager, trying not to attract too much attention from the other patients.
What Went Wrong
Doctor Sebastian has worked for the hospital for 35 years and he was well loved by everyone he meets. But, over the past few years, the staff began to notice changes in his behavior and demeanor towards other staff and even to patients. Everybody was left confused as this was not the doctor they came to know.

All they knew was he was perfectly fine one day, making sure all his patients and colleagues were attended to and then the next morning, he was ruthless and cold. The staff thought that this was just a one-off thing but then it unfortunately became evident to them that he wasn’t going to change that easily.
Up For Discussion
Because Doctor Sebastian was notorious for his stubbornness, the nursing staff took it upon themselves to discuss what they were going to do. They were not about to let a pregnant teenager fend for herself when she obviously has nowhere to turn to.

When the staff was assessing Noah, they knew that she did not have the financial means to pay for hospital services. They initially thought because she was aloof, that she may have been on drugs or have an addiction to it. But when the test results came back, it came back as negative. She was healthy, so what was going on?
The Oath
Given Doctor Sebastian’s stand on the patient, they knew that convincing him was going to be very difficult but they had to try any way. It was eating at their conscience to turn away a patient in need. After all, they took an oath.

After discussing within themselves, they were adamant that they were going to help Noah. They know they have funds stored for charity cases and they wanted to use that on her. So they invited the doctor to a forum.
Heated Discussion
Doctor Sebastian already had an idea why the nurses were so eager to talk to him. And so when he arrived at the conference room, his suspicions were indeed confirmed but he still remained to hear what they had to say about it.
Bonne Bridges
The discussions grew heated because the staff were pushing to use the funds but of course, they needed his approval before they could even offer it to the poor girl. Doctor Sebastian was not happy at all. Why were the staff so determined to help the girl?
Breaking The News
After countless hours of discussion, they all came into agreement. But it wasn’t the resolution that the staff wanted. Doctor Sebastian got his way once again and the staff had no choice but to go along with it as much as it had pained them.

However, while they resigned and gave up trying to convince him, they gave the doctor one final condition. Doctor Sebastian annoyingly faced them to ask what it was that they needed and they told him that he needed to be the one to break the news to Noah. He begrudgingly answered “Fine!” and he went on his way in search of the teenager.
No Can Do
Turning down Noah was hard to watch but the nurses witnessed how the Doctor easily brought her to a corner in the waiting room and broke the news. It was obvious that as every second passed of the doctor talking, Noah’s face got all scrunched up and again eventually cried at whatever he was trying to say to her.

Noah shook her head at her dismay and covered her face with her hands while her shoulders visibly shook up and down, bawling again at the news. And with that, Doctor Sebastian walked away, his face annoyed at the teenager getting all emotional. One of the nurses named Julia, walked up to her and tried to comfort her.
Helping In Silent
Nurse Julia had kids of her own. She, too, knows how it feels to be abandoned with no one to help her figure things out. As if, carrying an unborn child was that simple. “Men always have it easy and us women have to carry out this filial duty to bear children. This isn’t fair.”

And what’s not fair was leaving the poor teenager to fend for herself. She even thought for a second that she was homeless. So after their group discussion with the doctor, all the other nurses planned to help her in some way. They weren’t about to leave the child hanging and distraught like that. So, she wrote down a note and she made sure she gave it to her before it was too late.
The Note
While Noah was leaving the hospital and Nurse Julia was by her side, walking her to the exit, she faced her and secretively passed her a note. Noah had a look of confusion on her face. She looked at the note and then back to Nurse Julia who was smiling so fondly at her.

“I want to help you however I can,” said Nurse Julia. Noah could not believe what she was hearing and so without a single word, she hugged the nurse and said sorry for the trouble. Nurse Julia explained that she had been in difficult situations as well so there was no need to say sorry and that this whole thing wasn’t her fault.
Feeling For Her
Nurse Julia was furious, to say the least. She was very uncomfortable given the whole situation and she was just not about turning patients away when they need it the most. It affected her on a more personal level and she wonders why anybody could just take the injustice.

Her coworkers also felt the same way but they just couldn’t confront the doctor, that would be absolutely like a wish to get kicked out of the hospital. Instead, all the other nurses met privately and discussed what they should do for Noah. So they came to a decision to help her even if it meant that they had to help in secret.
Where Is Noah?
Nurse Julia was determined to find Noah but when she reviewed her records, she had found nothing about where she lived. So she hurriedly headed out and her first thought was going to the homeless shelters. But when she got there, there wasn’t any Noah in their records.

So, she decided to that it may be best to look through the outskirts of the city. If her suspicions were right, she may just find the teenager there. So she drove to one of the poorer neighborhoods in the city. Lo and behold, after driving for what felt like hours, she found Noah in one of the houses, sitting at the front porch but with a young man by her side. Could this be the father of the unborn child she was carrying?
Offering A Solution
Nurse Julia parked and got off her car. This was her one chance to make things right. As she was approaching, Noah saw her and stood up. When they finally got a chance to talk, she asked her if Noah read the note she gave and the teenager just shook her head. So she explained to her instead.

Nurse Julia told her that there was a small lying-in clinic she knows and that Noah could go there to give birth. Noah refused as she did not have the money. Nurse Julia assured her that she would take care of everything. So much to Noah’s surprise, she obliged if that was going to make sure that the baby was going to be fine.
The Confession
Noah had given birth to a healthy baby boy. But a few months after, she decided that it was best to reveal her true identity to the doctor who refused to help her. So she went back to the hospital, purpose in her pocket and found the doctor. Although she was nervous, she felt like he needed to know what was going on.

The doctor barely remembered her, but she went for it anyway. She explained that her father was actually his brother but they somehow lost contact twenty years prior because of an alleged fight. She also told the doctor that her father had been trying to contact him for quite some time but did not realize that he changed addresses and phone numbers so her father wasn’t all that successful in trying to reach out to him.
Finally A Happy Ending
Doctor Sebastian felt like the Earth stood still and time had frozen in that instance. He just could not believe what he was hearing and what he had finally realized. All this time, for twenty years, he thought that his brother had despised him. He had no more family to turn to, so what was the point in living at all?

Noah talked some more and eventually, they set up a date to where Doctor Sebastian could visit his brother. He had not seen him a long time. Two months after Noah confessed her heart out to him, they met again to meet the one person that he missed all these years – his brother. And just like that, when they both saw each other again, it’s like their fight had never happened at all. They were a family again, but this time, Noah was there to witness it all.
