Camping is a perfect chance to get away from the stress and pressure of our daily lives and be far away from the city noise. And if you are lucky, maybe you can even get a sunset or sunrise view. It is a great chance to be one with nature. But not everyone is set out for the great outdoors.

While some are blissfully at peace with living in their tents and roughing it out in the wild, some people just can’t survive without the technology and comforts that their houses have. Everything can be disastrous real quick. Here is a collection of some of the funniest camping fails we have seen online.

Excess baggage

When it comes to camping, minimal is key. It is always best to pack and travel light. After all, camping is all about being one with nature and more about using what nature can provide.

Clearly, this guy did not get the memo as he lugs around one ridiculously large backpack. It’s amazing that the weight did not make him topple over. This photo is fun since women have always been unfairly stereotyped to be the gender that overpacks.

Breaking all the rules

These campers have one thing on their mind – rules are made to be broken. And the irony of a sea of tents behind a small no camping sign is just hilarious. Maybe they should have made the sign a little bigger?

Source: Travelmaster

Although we are not sure why anyone would prevent people from camping in a field that looks perfectly great to be a camping site, it helps to respect the wishes of the landowner. I bet this one would stay away from hosting outdoor festivals again.

Cactus contact

One look at this picture and you just know this lad is in a very uncomfortable and itchy situation. Check out the number of cacti clinging onto his body! Looks like he had too much contact with the plants on this camping trip.

Source: Travelmaster

It is unclear how this fellow managed to be in such a situation. Lucky for him they were able to get help and first aid. Imagine having to go home in this condition. We bet he would think twice before venturing out into the wilderness next time.

Recycling has gone too far

We love people who make an effort to repurpose and recycle old things. You can tell that they are truly sincere in looking out for the environment. But this one project probably went a little too far.

Source: Travelmaster

Would you really place food items in an old toilet can? This is just one of those things that no matter how well you clean it, it still won’t be right to put anything in it that will end up in your mouth.

Not-so-comfy spot

When sleeping out in the wild, it is usually a good idea to keep off the ground – unless you want some creepy crawlies all over you. And this man took this advice literally by creating a makeshift bed with two camping chairs and a cooler box.

Source: Travelmaster

As much as we would like to admire this guy’s resilience and creativity, we can’t help but notice how awkward and uncomfortable the whole setup is for him. We bet he did not have the best sleep that day. Next time, just bring a tent.

Flattened out

One look at this picture and several questions come into mind. Did the tent collapse while they were sleeping? Did they run out of energy setting up the tent and decided to call it a day? Perhaps they forgot to bring blankets and decided to use the roof of the tent instead?

Source: Travelmaster

Either way, they do look comfortable enough for us to assume that they did enjoy their camping excursion. It looks like not even a flattened-out tent could get in the way of their catching a good night’s sleep.

From mailbox to meal box

Here’s another win for recycling – probably. Someone found a creative way to bring new life to an old metal mailbox. This time, they turned this mailbox into a camping stove. It certainly looks like it works too.

Source: Travelmaster

However, is this sanitary? Think of all the hands that touched that mailbox. Maybe the fire would sanitize them off? But one thing is for sure – you can use all those pesky bills and flyers as fire feeder with this idea.

Staying clean

Personally, hygiene is usually compromised when you go on a camping trip. It is definitely a good excuse to get down and dirty and even enjoy it a little. But for some people, good hygiene is always a must.

And these campers are just one of those people. Here, you can see them bringing along their own bathtubs in the woods. And it looks like they also bought a lot of water bottles to help fill up the tub.

Horsing around

One of the best things about camping is that there is always a chance that you are bound to see a wild animal or creature lurking around. But this camper probably did not have this kind of encounter in mind.

Source: Travelmaster

In this case, a horse dropped by to literally horse around and say hello to the campers in the early hours of the morning. Now that is a one-of-a-kind alarm clock that would be hard to snooze.

The spot is all yours

Campsites can be in demand. Fourth of July weekends, hunting seasons, outdoor festivals – the works. So, it makes sense for some people to do some reservations early on. Some would even pay extra to make sure they get the best spots.

Source: Travelmaster

We immediately feel sorry for the people who reserved this spot. It looks like their efforts to get the best spot in the area was all in vain. They probably ended up pitching their tent somewhere else given that it looks like a swamp area now.

Luxury clothesline

We bet you never thought you’d see a sportscar in a camping ground – or see it being used as a clothesline. Don’t you just love it when your car has so many functions and uses? This person just looks more ridiculous the longer you look at it.

Source: Travelmaster

We are not sure if this car owner really grasps the whole concept of camping. But hey – it can be a pretty humbling experience for luxury car owners. At least they made the effort to try it out.

Giant bugs

We know there is creepy crawlies in the woods and these bugs are bigger than the ones we usually encounter in our homes. So imagine waking up to see this form on your tent. Thankfully, this giant spider was outside.

Source: Travelmaster

Although it is hard to tell if this spider is poisonous or not, the sheer size of it all is just enough to make anyone scream in fright. It looks like this person was not traumatized enough since he or she can take this shot.

All piled up

One look at this vehicle and you just know that someone is going to have a very physical and active camping weekend. Just take a look at all the things they had to bring along. It is impossible to leave something behind.

Source: Travelmaster

What is most concerning though is that the tent is all set up on top of the car. Did they actually sleep with the tent piled up on top? Hopefully not. It definitely does not look comfortable and we doubt anyone could get a good night’s sleep that way.

Hungry for hotdogs

Camping is a normal activity for boy scouts. But we have to admit, cooking food camp-style can sometimes take time. So, what do you do when you have a full troop who is hungry? These boy scouts found a way to have everyone eat at the same time.

Source: Travelmaster

Hotdogs are a staple camping food because they are very easy to cook over a campfire. How this boy scout decided to cook a whole pack at once is just hilarious. This is more like a stroke of genius than a camping fail if you ask us.

Remote work

While most people go out camping to take a break from work, things get a little different when you can actually take your work with you wherever you go. And this is what this young man just did.

Source: Travelmaster

He seemed to take every kind of technology he needs for work from a PC, phone, and generator. And it looks like this was taken on a gloomy day too. Imagine how messy things could get when it rains!

Tiny tent

One of the best things about camping is that you get to have a relaxing break somewhere far from your own place and for a fraction of the cost of staying in a hotel. Sure it’s not as comfy as a hotel bed but there is a lot of comfy camping gear these days that can do.

Source: Travelmaster

But this guy takes camping too far by taking a tent that is just big enough for his head. We’re all saving for money but don’t you think this is too much? The tent looks like it is designed for tiny pets. But it is probably a good investment if you are the type who sleeps with your mouth wide open and drooling.

Windy day

Tents are very lightweight – they can be folded up and they can be moved around easily even when they are all set up. It is no wonder they are a staple for camping. However, their lightness can also be a downfall.

Source: Travelmaster

As this picture shows, a strong gust of wind can easily carry your temporary home away. This is why you should always have something to weigh down to the ground. Thank God there were trees around to stop this tent from flying away from its owner.

His ride or die

This camper’s tent has just enough space for his girlfriend or his mountain bike. And it looks like it was a no-brainer for this fellow as he clearly chose to snuggle with his bike in the tent while his girl lays down out in the cold.

Source: Travelmaster

We all know how expensive mountain bikes can get and this guy probably thinks that maintaining his bike has more value than maintaining his own relationship. What makes it more amazing is that this girl is actually cool with it.

Going with the flow

Unpredictable weather conditions may be the biggest downfall of a camping trip. So, you always have to be prepared for rain or shine. The heavens opened up and poured down on this campsite and you can see that it is a disaster.

Source: Travelmaster

While most people would be very upset about having all their belongings soaking wet and some even floating this guy seems to be very chill about it all. It looks like he is even kicking it back with a beer as he floats in the water.

Can’t miss an episode

Imagine hiking a long way into a beautiful campsite n the forest, only for you to sit down and watch TV the whole time. This picture just proves what a challenge it is for people to stay away from the TV these days.

Source: Travelmaster

This teenager looks like he does not care where he is as long as he gets to watch his favorite TV show. But hey – congratulations to his parents for succeeding in taking him outdoors.

Giving up

This picture shows that you need to set your priorities straight. These boys made the mistake of partying first before pitching up their tent. Now they are having trouble setting up their complicated tent with all the alcohol in their system.

Source: Travelmaster

And it seems at one point, they decided they had enough work trying to figure the tent out. They just piled on the half-built tent and found a way to take their much-needed sleep together.

Too drunk to camp

This guy clearly had a good time. We are not sure what he was up to the night before but clearly, it destroyed himself and his poor tent. In fact, we do commend him for being able to get back to his tent!

Source: Travelmaster

What makes it funnier is that he is completely oblivious to how silly he looks snoozing on whatever is left of his tent. He is even cradling an empty bottle of booze in his hand. It looks like it will take a while before he wakes up and realizes the mess he is in.

Elevated glamping

Glamping is the current trend recently but this girl took things to a whole new level when she set up her tent-like penthouse. There is no doubt that she feels like a desert princess in this tent.

Source: Travelmaster

This must be what a humble abode looks like to her compared to her multi-million mansion back home. The tent even comes with an air conditioning unit! We can’t deny that we’re jealous.

Breathtakingly dangerous

Location matters when it comes to camping. And in this world obsessed with Instagram likes, a stunning view is a must. And this couple chose an amazing view – they get a close-up look of an entire waterfall. Despite how Instagram-worthy the spot is, it does not take a genius to see how dangerous it is.

Source: Travelmaster

The tent happens to be very close to the edge. And it can only take one strong wind to topple the whole thing over. Also, can you imagine sleeping next to that all night without wanting to pee every few minutes?
