This place is the exact opposite of Mexico City and offers solitude like no other place on earth. This piece of rocky outcrop in Georgia, Russia is known as the Katskhi Pillar.

And for 25 years this has been the home of an elderly Georgian monk who lives alone. The height of this rock monolith has been estimated at around 40 meters (130 feet). Let’s hope for the sake of the local postman that the monk didn’t subscribe to a daily newspaper.
