Much like any other, Renate Stumpf went about her work on an ordinary day with a beaming smile. Little did she know that this day would hold a surprise. Renate, hailing from Germany, had a strict upbringing. At 18 years old, unable to afford college, she embarked on a journey to find employment to support her family. During this time, she worked at an army base in Germany in the late 1950s. However, fate had something else in store for her, something she couldn’t foresee.
