So, it can be said that vaccines offer high levels of protection against COVID-19. Delta variant of coronavirus was first detected in India during the last year’s December. Now the variant is dubbed as “Delta Plus” which is a more contagious strain that has been spread in many countries like India, the United Kingdom, Portugal, and South Korea.

Infectious disease expert Dr. Amesh A. Adalja said, “What makes the variant worrisome is the fact that it is a more contagious version of COVID-19 and will find unvaccinated individuals and infect them at a high rate.”

He also said, “If those unvaccinated are high risk for hospitalization, and there are many of them in a geographic area, it could be problematic for hospitals.”

Chair of the Department of Public Health at California State University Arnab Mukherjea mentioned that among unvaccinated affected people, 99 percent are experiencing severe illness from COVID-19.
