Meghan Markle is expecting her second child with Prince Harry. The couple recently shared this good news with a black and white photograph. In that photograph, Meghan was wearing a special pregnancy outfit. But there is a powerful inspiration behind the Duchess’ outfit choice and here we are trying to explore it for you.
Carolina Herrera creative director Wes Gordon designed Meghan Markle’s pregnancy announcement outfit. Recently she spoke about the “sustainable” decision the actress made with her outfit. The designer of the Duchess dress explained that the mom to 2-year-old Archie Harrison chose to wear a dress she already owned. Previously she wore this dress during major announcements of her and Prince Harry’s life.
The designer said, “I made [the dress] for her when she was pregnant with Archie, so almost two years ago,” He also said, “There’s a reality, it’s 2021, and we have a world to save, right? This is an undeniable crisis, and everyone has to do their part.”
Additionally, he added, “At Herrera, we’re committed to pursuing sustainable fabrics. But the number one thing that someone can do for sustainability is held on to those pieces you buy and use them for a longer amount of time. That’s why I think what Meghan did is such a powerful message.”
Then he concluded, “Just because the dress was two years old doesn’t mean it made Meghan “feel no less special or no less happy.”
The photographer Misan Harriman who took Meghan’s pregnancy announcement photo also a good friend of the royal couple. He said, “You don’t even see the image, you feel it. They are lost in each other. And the tree in the background and just life growing around them is incredibly powerful and symbolic.”
The black and white photo presents Meghan and Harry in smiling face in front of a sprawling tree. Meghan’s head was in her husband’s lap and the baby bump is visible beneath her dress.
