Vanessa Kirby expressed her reaction to the domestic abuse allegations against her co-star Shia LaBeouf.
Recently Pieces of a Woman star Shia LaBeouf was accused of domestic abuse. Serious mental and physical abuse allegations have been filed in court against this star. Kirby and LaBeouf appeared together in the film Pieces of a Woman. That film was debuted at the Venice Film Festival and now it is going to hit Netflix on Jan. 7.
According to “The Sunday Times” there is a scene in that film where Sean (LaBeouf) attempts to force Martha (Kirby) into having sex and throws a heavy exercise ball at her. This scenario is quite similar to the real-life allegations LaBeouf is facing from his ex-girlfriend.
FKA twigs and LaBeouf met in 2018 while co-starring in Honey Boy. Singer FKA twigs (real name Tahliah Debrett Barnett) filed a lawsuit for accusing LaBeouf of “relentless abuse,” both mental and physical. FKA twigs claimed in the legal papers that LaBeouf had rules about how often she had to kiss him and cheated on her. She also claimed that he stored guns in their bedroom to threaten her and “knowingly” gave her a sexually transmitted disease.
In this situation, The Crown alum Vanessa Kirby said in an interview, “I stand with all survivors of abuse and respect the courage of anyone who speaks their truth.” Kirby also added, “Regarding the recent news, I can’t comment on an ongoing legal case.”
However, LaBeouf denied many claims and said, “Many of these allegations are not true. I am not in the position to defend any of my actions.” He also said, “I owe these women the opportunity to air their statements publicly and accept accountability for those thing [sic] I have done. As someone in recovery, I have to face almost daily reminders of things I did say and do when I was drinking.”
The 34-year-old popular star continued, “I am committed to doing what I need to do to recover, and I will forever be sorry to the people that I may have harmed along the way.”
