Regular physical exercise teaches us many lifelong lessons. It helps us to build a relationship with our team members or exercise partners whom we meet daily. It allows us to learn how to work with others which is crucial in our life. Regular sports help us to destroy some of the barriers that can create anxiety in adulthood. Scientists also agree that physical exercise either solo or in a team can help our body to function better. We can be able to battle mental health conditions like anxiety and depression effectively.

A recent study conducted by the University of South Australia (UniSA) and MSH Medical School Hamburg in Germany found that sports can protect us from serious mental health disorders. Though medications can play an important role in mental health treatment, these have some limitations. In this situation, sports or regular physical exercise can be a good solution for mental health management.

Different forms of exercise affect mental health in different ways. Some forms of exercise can reduce our stress and some can increase our mental stability. It is true that there is still not sufficient proof about the optimal types or amounts of activity for positive mental health. But it is assumed that regular physical exercise can influence or alleviate depression and anxiety.

However, you need to remember that exercise is not the only solution to reduce your depression and anxiety. You shouldn’t overdo the exercise. Because people undertaking vigorous-intensity physical activity often experience higher levels of depression. So always try to keep a balance. Moderation might be the right key to stay physically and mentally healthy.
