Greasy foods tend to be high in calories, fats, salt, and refined carbs. However, these food items are low in fiber, vitamins, and minerals. Though these foods are an enjoyable treat on special occasions, these have a negative effect on our body in both the short and long term. Greasy foods may cause bloating, stomach pain, and diarrhea. Because these foods contain a high amount of fat and fat is the most slowly digested macronutrient. It spends more time in your stomach which may cause bloating, nausea, and pain. People with digestive complaints or having stomach bug may trigger cramping and diarrhea due to greasy foods.

Greasy foods are harmful to healthy bacteria that live in your gut. These healthy bacteria can break down fiber to produce fatty acids that have anti-inflammatory effects. These healthy bacteria can communicate with immune cells to help control your body’s response to infections. These good bacteria are also helpful for gut health and can boost heart-protective cholesterol. But greasy foods may damage your gut microbiome by increasing the number of unhealthy gut bacteria.

For example, 3.5 ounce or 100 grams of baked potato may contain more than 90 calories. Studies found that a high intake of fast foods is positively linked to increased rates of weight gain and obesity.
