Include water

Place a tall and narrow stockpot and cover it with cool water. You need to make sure that the pot is taller than the chicken. It will help the water to flow around ingredients. It will also make easier to extract the most flavor. It will allow you to skim away anything that rises to the surface.

Make and include a package of herbs

You have to make a package of herbs wrapped in cheesecloth. Add parsley, thyme, garlic, peppercorns, and bay leaf on the top of the cheesecloth. Then wrap up it with twine. You can add this easily into the pot and simmer until the chicken is super tender. It will help you to infuse the flavor of the herbs into the broth. Be aware of the time of adding the herb package, because the flavors may cook away completely or it can become dull if you add it too early.

Use a large bowl to transfer the chicken and vegetables. Then season the broth with salt and shred the meat. After discarding the skin and bones you can serve it with soup. You need to set over another pot or measuring cup. It will help you to catch any additional scraps left in the broth.

Store the broth

You can reserve the chicken broth or use it for another recipe. You can refrigerate it for up to 5 days or freeze it for up to 3 months.
