30. Border Collie

This breed is quick, agile, and sharper than any other. Just observe some agility training and you’ll be blown away—it will quickly click why the Border Collie often takes home first prize. These dogs can understand and execute complex commands, like “go up on that slide and sit at the top for a minute before coming down.” Just like a lot of other dogs that we listed, the Border Collie developed its brains on the farm and ranch. But, unlike a lot of these other dogs, Border Collies can recognize extensive lists of commands, including verbal and somatic ones.

They are very energetic, fast, and strong, so they make great sheepdogs and excel at other dog sports. They also win the award for smartest of all domesticated dog. Border Collies still herd livestock around the world to this very day.
